FEST CLINICS by girlsAdventureOut |
The NorCal Women’s
Surf Club strives to make surf instruction accessible through
Surf Fest. We are pleased to offer both
beginner and intermediate lessons (for both men and women, boys
and girls) on September 11th.
Come have fun learning
to surf at Linda Mar Beach on 9/11 with girlsAdventureOut’s experienced instructors!
• Learn-to-Surf
Clinic (2hrs) - $40
includes wetsuit, booties, board rental*
• Intermediate
Tune-Up Clinic (2hrs) - $45
Please bring your own wetsuit and board. CLINIC START
TIMES:
7:30am; 10:30am; 1:30pm; 2:30pm
PRE-REGISTRATION:
Required by Monday, September 6.

register. Sign-up confirmations will be sent by email. Please arrive 30 minutes
prior for check-in at the lesson tent. Last
year's clinics sold out at the
beach - so register NOW to guarantee your spot!
ABOUT THE CLINICS:
Learn or improve your surf skills, ocean awareness, and etiquette!
Plus learn about wave breaks, ocean conditions, safety in & out
of the water, paddling, pop-up techniques, turning, style
and more.
Instructor-student
ratio: 4:1. Participants must have basic swimming skills.

wetsuit sizes are size 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. We will do our
best to provide wetsuits for everyone
in the Learn-To-Surf Clinics. If you have your own gear, 4/3mm
wetsuits and 3mm booties are recommended.

All their instructors are CPR and First-Aid certified.
Founded by business-savvy, avid outdoorswomen Jude Ann
Smith and Claude Silver, girlsAdventureOUT has offered
surf clinics and camps in Pacifica and Santa Cruz since
2002. They are also a co-host of the Billabong Summer
Sessions Surf Camp Tour.

Surf Fest Exhibition surfer & contest
judge TERRY SIMMS will lead two special surf clinics
on Sunday, September 12 in Santa Cruz.
Terry “Simba” Simms
is one of the most talented surf instructors industry-wide.
What differentiates Terry
from others is his incredibly broad expertise in - and
passion for - surfing. Terry has

over 25 years worth
of experience teaching students of all levels (age 3 to
65). CPR-certified and formerly in the Coast Guard, Terry
is well-trained in water safety.
As a former ASP
Top 20 pro longboarder and a Top 10 PSAA pro shortboarder,
Terry
has appeared in numerous surf films and on surf magazine
covers. Terry’s sponsors have included Harbour Surfboards,
Surftech, Hotline Wetsuits, Sex Wax, and O’Fish’l
Fins.
Terry’s longstanding clientele ranges from Silicon
Valley executives and Hollywood personalities to families
and competitive surfers. He has taught in exotic surf locales
around the world, from Costa Rica, to Morocco and South

Goody bags will be distributed at check-in.

Linda Mar State Beach. Look for the contest tents (either north
or south of Taco Bell) and head for the check-in tent signs
near the GAO tent.

EQUIPMENT:
o Rental wetsuit, surfboard and booties are included for beginners.
You are welcome to bring your own
o Intermediate clinic folks must bring their own equipment.

o Bring swimsuit, towel, & sun protection, PLUS some water,
food snacks, and warm layers for the cooler weather & fog.
o Bring beach gear & chairs to enjoy the rest of the day
on the beach!
